![]() ![]() a local kid was sponsored by mcs and they gave it to him. The only one i ever saw back in the day was an mcs magnum 24. We rode back to his house and there sat a brand new Hutch 24 sitting in the garage that his dad bought to ride with his son. I'll never forget the day my friend Brian showed up at my house on his brand new, bike shop built Hutch Pro Racer. I always thought having one of these and JU's GJS cruiser would be the best.įunny thing is, BITD Everyone in central IL rode 20". ![]() what about one of these? I have been told this was someones grail. It looks like you like the harder to find cruisers. Now, I just hope gOrk doesn't get involved.hehehehee Regardless of what one's grail is, it is cool when something like the STR-1 or the TA 24 surfaces. Maybe it is the STR-1 right at the top, or the CW Pistol Pete one off, or oneof the special Kuwahara Laserlites built for Clint Miller and Gary Ellis. Whereas, someone into 20's, would have a completely different outlook. But that is how I see the "grail" perspective. And while I have had the opportunity of owning a RRS 24, the TA 24 is light years further up the chain, and more to the point, pretty much unobtainable for me. I worked my way up that list from the GT 24, and I have just reached the JMC 24. Right at the top of the list for me, is the TA 24, followed by a RRS 24, then a JMC 24, Kuwahara 24, Patterson 24, GT 26, and then GT 24. The same could be said for any grail type 26'ers. For 20 inch purists, and people interested in the late 70's/early 80's, then yes, the STR-1 is one deemed worthy of the "grail status.Īs you mentioned, the STR-1 was more talked about, but amongst cruiser geeks, the TA 24 would be discussed more. It is an interesting discussion Kerry re: the STR-1. Question?if you could see any old school bike surface what would you like to see? forget what everyone else want's what would your personal best be? But if CW does not interest you then you would not ever notice. This bike has been brought up a few times here in the past. More Hutches than anything but alot of CW's. I also think CW was a huge part of BMX in the early 80's. I also think the reason most people don't talk much about Petes one off frame is because they never noticed it was different. I think the grail thing is way over used. Kerry Try riding a Vector you will love the CW after that. I'm not taking anything away from it, just no way is it a grail frame.Īlso, another personal opinion of Cw.worst geometry of any bike ever.awful! That Cw could be a personal grail maybe but as far as THAT frame, I've never heard of one person in 10 years even ask about it. I dont consider the Skyway 24 a grail frame either but it is rare and often talked about, iconic if you will. ![]()
